Decryptor Interface - SQL Servers Window

Last Updated: 04.01.2016
This window contains the hierarchical structure of all the Groups and SQL Servers added to the Decryptor Interface. All groups and servers are displayed in alphabetical order and can be re-arranged by dragging and dropping between the available groups. Each object in the list has an individual right-click context menu. The Decryptor Interface fully supports drag and drop but as an alternative, all encrypted objects can be decrypted by double-clicking them and servers, databases and folders can invoke the decryption wizard by right-clicking on them.

At the top of the Window is a toolbar that contains 3 options:

Expand All Nodes

Clicking this button will expand the hierarchical structure from the selected node down.

Collapse All Nodes

Clicking this button will collapse the hierarchical structure from the selected node down.

Refresh

The Refresh button will refresh the selected server, database, folder or object group node. This button will be disabled for groups, disconnected servers, and individual encrypted objects.

Dragging and Dropping

The Decryptor Interface fully supports drag and drop operations both within the SQL Servers Window and between the SQL Servers Window and the Decryption Window. Within the SQL Servers Window only group and server nodes can be moved under other groups in order to reorganize the hierarchy. All other objects can be moved to the Decryption Window with the following results: Servers, Databases and Folders will invoke the Decryption Wizard while individual encrypted objects will be placed in the Decryption Queue for processing.

SQL Server Window Context Menu

When right-clicking on an empty area of the SQL Servers window, a context menu will appear with two options:

  • Add New Group

Adds a new group to the top of the group hierarchy and enables editing.

  • Add SQL Server

Invokes the Add SQL Server Dialog. If a server is successfully connected to it will appear at the bottom of the hierarchy.

Group Context Menu

Right-clicking on any group node will show the following options:

  • Add New Group

Adds a new group under the selected group node and enables editing.

  • Rename Group

Renames the selected group node. The group will then be re-arranged in the group list alphabetically.

  • Remove Group

Removes the selected group node. If there are server nodes underneath the group you will be asked if you want to remove them all or move them to the next highest node in the list.

  • Add SQL Server to Group

Invokes the Add SQL Server Dialog. If a server is successfully connected to it will appear underneath this group node, in alphabetical order.

Disconnected Server Context Menu

A disconnected SQL Server cannot be dragged to the Decryption Window and will only have the following two options:

  • Connect SQL Server

Invokes the Edit SQL Server Dialog with the saved connection data.

  • Remove SQL Server

Removes the selected SQL Server from the list. The server's connection data will be saved in case you want to add it back in at a later time.

Connected Server Context Menu

Connected SQL Servers can be dragged to the Decryption Window and Invoke the Decryption Wizard. The context menu for a connected SQL Server object has five options:

  • Disconnect SQL Server

Disconnects and logs off the selected SQL server and keeps it in the list.

  • Edit SQL Server

Invokes the Edit SQL Server Dialog with the current connection data.

  • Remove SQL Server

Removes the selected SQL Server from the list. The server's connection data will be saved in case you want to add it back in at a later time.

  • Refresh

This will Refresh the selected SQL Server by disconnecting and reconnecting the server. All databases, folder and objects will be reloaded and any objects that have been replaced on the server will no longer show in the list.

  • Start Decryption Wizard

Invokes the Decryption Wizard with the assumption that the entire database contents are to be decrypted. You will still have the option to select a different server or database(s).

Database, Folder and Object Group Context Menus

All of the above objects can be dragged to the Decryption Window in order to invoke the Decryption Wizard. Their context menus all have the same two options:

  • Refresh

Refreshes the selected node by removing all child objects and reloading them from the server. Any objects that have been replaced on the server will no longer show in the list.

  • Start Decryption Wizard

Invokes the Decryption Wizard with the assumption that all child objects are to be decrypted. You will still have the option to modify the selection.

Encrypted Object Context Menu

Encrypted Objects can also be dragged to the Decryption Window or double-clicked to be placed into the Decryption Queue for processing. The context menu for encrypted objects has two options:

  • Decrypt to New Window

Places the selected encrypted object into the Decryption Queue for processing.

  • Replace on Server

Replaces an object directly on the server (registered version only). Please see the Replace on Server Warning Dialog topic for more information.
